Time management update
I believe that the current progress on my magazine is good. One major issue I need to resolve is my photo shoot- I need to get some photos soon. Apart from that, though, I think I'm doing alright, and will soon be able to move on to the contents page. Because of this, I've started brainstorming some possible article names to appear there.
Front cover WIP update
Since my last update, I have added an additional coverline, and a place-holder for my secondary image's caption. The splash is just an idea at the moment, it refers to a fictional group I made up on the spot. However, it's possible I will have to change this to a single person, depending on the photos I end up taking for my magazine.

Front cover WIP eval
According to feedback of this, I have used an apprpriate register, and I have a good variety of fonts. However, the current colour scheme is rather unclear, and there are other little issues like overused '!'s and the puff's usage of 'MP3'- 'tracks' might be a better word choice. Also, it was also suggested that I add more coverlines.
I think that I am working well towards the A-grade criteria:
- I believe that my layout demontrates some measure of magazine conventions.
- I am showing awareness of the need for variety in colours and fonts.
- I am accurately using language in relation to my target audience (older teens/young adults)
Design Update
Whilst working on my front cover, I have recently made a few changes to my original design. The first is the re-arranging of the coverlines to the bottom of the page, in what I believe to be a more aesthetically interesting layout. The second is the addition of a Puff in the top right-hand corner. Finally, I have decided to add a barcode to the page, in the botton-right corner.

Initial Ideas
Musical sub-genre
I think
creating an indie/popular music magazine would be interesting.
House style/Brand identity
I’d like it to
be bright and colourful, definitely not drab. The magazine would have a catchy
name. Fonts would be fairly simple, nothing especially ornate. They need to
link to the genre, though.
Audience
I will be
aiming this at teens/young adults in their twenties.
Mode of
address
The language used
will be fairly informal/colloquial.

Typography research: tracking
Tracking is essentially letter-spacing. It is defined as a constant degree of increase/decrease of spacing between characters. This alters the overall text density in a line/paragraph.
